Ok, confinement technically ended 2 weeks ago when Kayley turned one moon but because I had extended the CL for 2 additional weeks, I got to eat the same lovely food and enjoy being hands-off the baby. Today is THE day. CL leaves in a couple of hours. No more yummilicious food. No one to entertain the bub while I watch TV/read/bake/do other nonsense. Consolation is that VT will be doing the night shifts, just like he did with the other 3. What a darling.

I have another week before I return to work. Now, THAT I dread. Back to the office politics, which I so very hate to the core of my soul. Throw me work and I’ll spin it for you – packaged with a nice ribbon, but give me politics, nothing makes me run away farther. But what to do, have to “cari makan”.

Looking back at the past 6 weeks, it was one of the best confinement I had. The CL is someone I already know (same CL as for Bradley) so we are familiar with each other’s habits. She doesn’t nag me for showering every day and washing hair alternate days, and is supportive of breast-feeding. Not like I did much of it but she was happy to feed EBM day and night. She is also quick to highlight any possible health issues. For example, Kayley had a really bad case of baby acne on her cheeks and the back. I can see the acne on the face but because I didn’t bathe Kayley, I didn’t know about the back. We used Eumovate cream as per the paed’s advice to cure it. Then she told me that there was a tiny red spot in the white of the eye. Upon googling, I found out that it was due to a burst vein as a result of the baby sneezing, which will eventually go away. And it did. The best attribute was her cooking ability. I won’t even start!

My CL is not perfect. She does certain things that irk me, such as wiping the baby’s butt with wet wipes instead of cotton wool with water and because she is so totally in love with my daughter, she enjoys carrying her all the time. All in all, she’s acceptable – actually, probably the best CL I’ve ever had. She is going to be missed as she is almost a relative to me.

The real work of this mother-of-4 starts today!
