Our Children’s Corner
VT & I had meant to set up a little nook for the children about half a year back. But with all the ongoings of work and weekends, I guess we kept delaying this until last week, when I’d forced VT to take 1 day leave to set this up.
First, we headed to Ikea to buy all the shelves and boxes, and then proceeded to start the assembling. I must admit that my past experience with Ikea woodwork was not good (a bookshelf that we bought about 3 years ago) as we had difficult driving the nuts and screws into the imperfectly formed holes. I was expecting the same but was pleasanlt surprised. The quality has improved significantly and we managed to fix up the shelves in less than one hour. It is not complicated but involved a lot of strength to turn the nuts in for the boxes to slide in.
When we arranged all the toys and what-nots in, we were very happy with the result as our little living room looks so much neater and brighter as well. Previously, all of their toys were heaped onto our pathetic dark brown coffee table. We also had to keep alot of the toys in the maids’ room upstairs as there wasn’t enough space downstairs.
Now our only regret is that we should have done this a long, long time ago. When the boys came home later at night, Bryan was the first to run to the space and he now declares, without fail every night, “I y(l)ike the children’s corner!”.
