PostHeaderIcon What a Close Call!

Mamapumpkin sent me a Whatsapps message late Wednesday night that read: “How come your 2011 blog posts are missing?”

HUH??

I checked my blog site.

CRAP!!!!!

The latest post was something from November 2010. My host is so going to get it.

I sent an email to them as soon as I got into work, describing in detail how the posts are missing and reminding them that I did pay them RM100 to perform the WordPress version upgrade for me one month ago.

They responded to say that their database backup from the day before didn’t have my posts. Neither did any backups that they “sporadically” do. OMG! Can you imagine losing almost one full year worth of posts? I mean, I don’t use it to make money nor do I care about the ratings nor do I even blog much, but I always made it a point to jot the kids’ milestones down. And now, they were all lost.

I kept going ding-dong-ding-dong with them until I could take it no more when they more or less implied that I was a dumb a** for not having my own local backup (which I know I am, but I wouldn’t take it from them!). I rallied help from Jazzmint – a desparate call for help from a friend even though she was miles away. And a good friend she is! I emailed her my correspondes and immediately, she shot back some IT mumbo jumbo questions to those good-for-nothing web host and guess what, they reverted to say that they pointed my blog to their old server.

W-T-F??????

I nicely replied to ask who changed it. And now, I’m eagerly awaiting for their response.

But yes, my blog posts are now all safe. I need to do a backup pronto.

Thank you, Jazz! You saved me from being swallowed up by the IT world – AGAIN!!

PostHeaderIcon Photos Diarhoea

Many readers have been asking why I have not been uploading photos onto this blog.

Answer: I couldn’t do it for some reason. When I asked my host provider, they said that it was due to my blog running on an out-dated WordPress version.

Fix: I paid RM100 to them to do the 2-minute job. What a rip off, but what to do? When you are an IT-idiot like me, you just have to pay up!

Next couple of posts would be dedicated to photos only. Stay tuned!

PostHeaderIcon Last Day

Today is my final day with you. By this time tomorrow, you will belong to someone else. Why am I so attached to you?

I’ve dreamt of being with you since I was 12 years old. I made a promise to myself that you will be mine by the time I hit 35 years old. You were one of my strongest motivation to work hard. I still recall how happy and proud I was when that dream was achieved 5 years ahead of the planned target. I could not stop smiling the day I picked you up. You were everything I’d dreamed of, and more!

I had a wonderful 2 years with you although you did require a bit of pampering off-and-on.  And today is the last day I’ll spend with you. I promise you that we will be together again one day, when the kids are older.

PostHeaderIcon Where’s the Tag?

I had a message from Wen to tell me that I’ve been tagged. But I was unable to locate it. I really think I’m the biggest technology-dufus that you can find around.

For example, we bought a videocam to be able to capture moments from Bryan’s 1st and until today, I don’t know how to work it. I used to sit down, read the manual and figure things out on my own but since Bryan’s arrival, I think I’ve become very lazy – whenever I have some free time, I would either catch up on reading Reader’s Digest or take 40 winks. If someone asked me what I wished for, it is MORE TIME!!

PostHeaderIcon Cookies

Sorry, not the edible sort. I couldn’t log into Blogger yesterday as the cookies function on my desktop was not enabled. Doesn’t help that I have ZERO knowledge in IT. Setting up this blog isa huge achievement for me already. I tried muddling around the settings yesterday and even tried some of the stuff suggested by Jazzmint (thanks, dear!) but couldn’t work. So whole of yesterday couldn’t blog….so san fu man (painful)…as if you’ve got diarrhoea but the loo out of order! But luckily was very busy fighting fire at work yesterday so I didn’t need to tear my hair out.

This early morning, I caught hold of our IT guy and asked him to sort it out. He fiddled around for 5 minutes and voila, I can access Blogger and blog again WHOOPIEE!!! Can ‘let go’ again hehehe

By the way, my idea of cookies relate to Famous Amos’ chocolate chips & pecan.
